I am a late forties kayak racer. My goal is to compete at the World Masters Games in Turin, Italy in 2013. I will be racing in ICF sprint kayaks. This blog will be my training diary for the next 4 yrs. I use a variety of running, weights, and cross training to hopefully become a better kayaker.

Sun Run Test Workout

Today's run was a warm one. when I started from work, I thought it was going to be cold so I wore a short sleeve shirt and a long sleeve as well. This turned out to be a mistake. By the time 8 minutes had worn down, it was very warm out and I was paying for it.

I decided to change my route a little so I would miss the casino area, and it's electronic jamming equipment. My turning around point would be on Sea Island by the airport. I managed to make it all the way to the Arther Lang bridge before my GPS rang to turn around.

I noticed that the stitch on my left side was coming back, so I concentrated on breathing through my nose. It seemed to hold it off for the rest of the run. This was a pre Sun Run test run of the strategy that I will be using for the race. It seems looking at the numbers that I am going to have to adjust my plan a little, if I want to come close to my goal time.
